Cyclone IV is one of the most popular FPGA series from Altera (Intel). Widely used in industrial automation, signal processing and embedded systems.
Two Sub-families
Cyclone IV E — base family without transceivers, up to 150K logic elements. Optimal for general purpose. Cyclone IV GX — includes transceivers up to 3.125 Gbps, up to 150K logic elements. For high-speed interfaces.
Popular Models
EP4CE10F17C8N — 10K LE, most popular in the series
Intel (formerly Altera) has transitioned most Cyclone IV production to Cyclone V and Cyclone 10. Some specific models remain available, but many require sourcing through independent channels.
Cyclone IV E is the standard low-cost version. Cyclone IV GX includes up to 8 transceivers at 3.125 Gbps. Choose GX only if you need high-speed serial interfaces.
Yes, with an external Nios II soft processor or external ARM processor. Cyclone IV does not include a hard processor like Cyclone V SoC.
